Organisations are awarded the standard if they achieve the Quantitative and Qualitative Requirements outlined below.

Qualitative Requirements
Measure
- Accounting - Does the organisation have a robust process of accounting for waste? (10 points)
- Monitoring - Does the organisation regularly monitor the Waste Heirarchy and performance against targets? (10 points)
- Reporting - Does the organisation communicate waste management performance to internal & external stakeholders? (5 points)
Manage
- People - Are Waste Management roles clearly defined, including which Executive Body holds overall responsibility? (5 points)
- Policy - Does the organization have an established and effective policy for managing waste?(10 points)
- Targets - Does the organisation have Waste Hierarchy targets leading to Zero Waste? (10 points)
- Training - Does the organisation have effective training and awareness programmes for all employees involved in waste management? (5 points)
Minimise
- Investments - Are investments / R&D made to Reduce > Reuse > Recycle and move towards a Circular Economy business model? (10 points)
- Programmes - What specific programs are in place to minimize waste and apply the waste hierarchy? (15 points)
- Value Chain - Does the organisation consider the waste impact upstream in its supply chain and downstream in its products & services? (10 points)
